The insulation layer of most wires and cables is composed of paper, oil, hemp, rubber, asphalt and other combustible substances, and sometimes improper handling will lead to the explosion of our wires and cables. There are many reasons for wire and cable explosion, but if we don't pay attention to these six problems, it may cause wire and cable explosion.

  1. Short circuit fault caused by insulation damage. The protective lead skin of wires and cables is damaged during laying or the insulation of cables is mechanically damaged during operation, resulting in insulation breakdown between cables or lead skin, and the resulting arc makes the insulation materials and outer protective layer materials of wires and cables burn and catch fire.
  2. Long-term overload operation of wires and cables. Overload operation for a long time exceeds the maximum allowable temperature for normal heating. Long-term overload operation of wires and cables will reduce the insulation and mechanical properties of wires and cables, and even lose these properties, thus causing the explosion of wires and cables.
  3. Insulation breakdown of intermediate junction box. The intermediate junction box will be used in the process of cable use, and if the intermediate junction box is not handled properly, it will also cause the cable to explode. The middle joint of the cable joint box is not tightly pressed, welded or improperly selected, and the joint is oxidized and heated during operation, thus forming a short circuit, causing the cable to explode and catch fire.
  4. The head of wire and cable burns. If the head of wire and cable is not inspected all the year round, stains will appear and the surface will be damp. After that, the sleeve of cable head is broken and the distance between outgoing lines is too small, which may cause fire, and in serious cases, the surface insulation of cable head and the insulation of outgoing lines will burn and explode.
  5. Pay attention to oil-immersed cables. This kind of cable is different from other cables. When using this kind of cable, attention should be paid to dripping and oil leakage due to height difference. Cable oil leakage will increase the probability of failure, fire and explosion.
  6. Wires and cables arranged at high temperature or with fire sources should be inspected regularly. If the wires and cables are arranged in these places, the wires and cables will also explode if they are not handled properly or the inspection is not standardized. For example, attention should be paid to the production of gas tanks, oil, or places with chemicals. If wires and cables are used in these places, they should be inspected regularly, otherwise, they may cause fires.
